• How to Plan a Tropical Florida Beach Vacation

You have a lot to look forward to if you are planning a beach vacation in tropical Florida. The sand, the sun, the food and drink are all beckoning. But before you get carried away there are five important things to remember when planning your trip to ensure the most fun and relaxing time once you arrive in Florida.

    1. Bring a pair of comfortable sandals. Let’s face it, there’s no way to spend your vacation on the beach if you don’t have a good pair of sandals. That said, while it’s not a bad idea to bring a pair of cheap flip flops for going down to the beach, you also want to make sure to bring a good pair of solid, comfortable sandals for walking around town. They should be broken in before you embark on your trip to be sure that they don’t irritate your feet or give you blisters.

    1. Make sure to buy or rent all your beach gear when you get there. Aside from the basics like your bathing suits, sandals and sunglasses, you want to wait until you get to Florida to purchase all the rest of your beach gear. If you plan to spend multiple days out on the beach, you’re going to need a source of shade, like a large umbrella. You’re also going to want a nice beach chair, and a cooler for snacks and drinks. Try to see what you can rent, but otherwise, just buy your supplies when you arrive.
    1. Pack a few different bathing suits. Whether you’re a man or a woman, you want to have a couple of different options so that your suits have enough time to dry before you go to put them back on. Also, if you’re a woman, you might want to avoid getting any extreme tan lines. That’s why you should have a couple of different options so that you can undo some of your tan lines from day to day. You’re probably going to be wearing tops and dresses with different necklines, so be sure to wear swimsuits with different necklines too.
    1. Reapply your sunblock every few hours. Whether you have fair skin or not, you want to be sure that you are protecting yourself from the harsh UV rays of the sun if you are going to be outside each day, whether tanning at the beach or walking around town. Not only do you have the sun beating down on your skin, but you also have the light reflecting off of the water, effectively giving you a double dose of UV rays. Plus, the water will be washing off your sunblock throughout the day while at the beach. So be sure to have it on you at all times and reapply every 2-3 hours.
    1. Find a hotel near the beach. If you are planning on staying in Fort Lauderdale, then you’re going to want to look for FT Lauderdale hotel options near the beach. You don’t want to have to lug all of your gear very far each day, and you want to be able to get out of bed and into the water as quickly as possible. If you have to spend all morning preparing for a long trek to the beach, then you are going to miss out on all the best hours of the day to be lying on the sand and watching the water.
